Human chain in Durgapur to protest the increase in the price of daily necessities

Under the slogan 'Dam Kamao-Jan Bachao', a human chain was held in Durgapur of Netrakona to protest against the increase in the prices of all essential commodities including fertilizer, diesel and petrol.

On Tuesday (August 9) at noon, CPB Durgapur Upazila Committee took part in this human chain at the local press club intersection with all levels of participation.

In the hour-long human chain, Communist Party of Bangladesh CPB Durgapur Upazila Committee General Secretary Rupon Kumar Sarkar spoke among others, CPB Upazila Committee President Comrade Alkash Uddin Mir, Upazila Farmers Association President Abdul Malek Sarkar, Secretary Morshed Alam, Farm Labor Association Convener Md Rahmat Ali, Upazila Youth Union President Nazrul Islam, Student Union President Al-Amin Chowdhury and others.

Speakers in the meeting said that many people have become unemployed in the country due to the outbreak of the global epidemic corona virus and the recent terrible floods. As no new employment was created, the poverty rate increased. In the meantime, if the prices of daily essentials and commodities increase, ordinary people will die without food. It is demanded to immediately reduce the price of essential commodities including fertilizer, diesel-petrol, rice, pulses, oil.
