Three arrested in Atpara UNO office theft case
The police have arrested three persons including the plaintiff for their involvement in a heinous theft incident at the Upazila Nirbahi Officer's office on the night of July 30 at Atpara in Netrokona.
They were arrested from their respective homes in Netrakona town on Friday (August 6) night.
The arrested are Kabir Mia (30), son of Md Shahjahan of Satpai area of Netrakona town, Rajiv Bean, son of Mughal Bean of Arambagh area and Amitabh Sarkar (28), son of deceased Amal Sarkar of Brajendra Road area.
Atpara Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zafar Iqbal confirmed the matter on Saturday (August 6) afternoon. Case No-17, Dated-July 31, 2022 and Section-457/380 against them. They were produced in court on Saturday afternoon.
The police also said that on the night of July 30, a violent robbery took place at Atpara UNO office. Around Tk 4 lakh 50 thousand in cash and CCTV camera hard disks and devices were taken away.
Later, the certificate assistant of the said office, Amitabh Sarkar, filed a case at Atpara police station on July 31 as the plaintiff. On Friday (August 5) 3 people were arrested based on various information. Police said that initially they are related to this incident.
Atpara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Shakeel Ahmed said, "I came to know from Atpara police station that the police arrested three people and sent them to court in connection with the theft in my office. Demand the punishment of the real culprit through a fair investigation.
